Telford Hancock, 66, of Harkers Island, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 at Carteret Health Care.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, January 29, 2017 at The Harkers Island Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop B.L. Marcom officiating.

Telford was born and raised on Harkers Island, graduating from East Carteret High School.  He served his county for twenty plus years in the Army, including Vietnam, and retired as a Sgt. First Class.  He enjoyed working with his hands, especially woodworking, which led him to a career as a foreman in construction.  He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and his friends, and was always proud of everyone’s accomplishments.

Telford is survived by his daughters, Adrienne Hancock Nuttle of Jamestown and Julie Marie Hancock of Salisbury; step daughters, Jennifer May Ulrich and husband Ernest of Washington, Emily Marie Horton of Cape Carteret, and Kendra King of Newport; sons, Daniel Lane Hancock and wife Kerri of Morehead City, Bryan Allan Hancock of Newport, John Christopher Hancock of Salisbury, and Aaron Paul Hancock and wife Carla of Huntersville; stepsons, Jason Douglas Fowler and wife Jennifer of Havelock and David Leon Fowler of OK; grandchildren, Makayla Elise Freeman, Jonathan Luke Harwood, Jr., Justin Nuttle, Trevor Nuttle, Aaron Paul Hancock, Jr., Alexander Hancock and Brooklyn Faye Hancock; step grandchildren, Westin Ulrich and Jasmyne Fowler; sisters, June Davis and Lillian A Michels and husband Lloyd all of Harkers Island; brothers, Tommy W. Hancock and wife Thelma, Robert W Hancock and wife Nola, and Joel G Hancock and wife Susan all of Harkers Island.

He was preceeded in death by sister, Ella Dee Willis; brothers, Ralph, Michael, and Denny; and parents, Margarette Lewis and Charlie William Hancock.
