Ted "Teddy Bear" Robert McComb

January 9, 1946 — April 4, 2015

Ted "Teddy Bear" McComb, Jr, 69 of Bogue, North Carolina passed away suddenly, Saturday, April 4th, 2015 at home on "The Hill".

Per his wishes, there will be no service, but we will have a private celebration of his life, Tuesday night, at his home on "The Hill".

Ted was born in Victoria, TX and raised in the coal country of Packsville, WV. He moved to Carteret County when he was 17 and attended high school at Camp Lejeune. Ted, and four others, started the Emerald Isle Rescue Squad. He was a humble, hard working and humorous man, who loved helping others. He was a dependable, generous and loving father, husband and friend; quick with a joke or a funny song! In death his generosity didn't end. He donated his corneas to the Miracle of Sight so that another could see. He met the love of his life, Kay (Chalos) McComb, as a youth in Packsville, WV and was blessed to marry her on March 8th, 2014. His said many times, his life and family was finally complete and he will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kay McComb of Bogue, NC; stepmother, Marie McComb Robinson of Ft. Worth, TX; beloved daughters, Deborah Styron of Emerald Isle, NC, Carin Leisure of Orlando, FL and Lyn Smith of Chicago, IL; granddaughters, Giovanna Styron of Emerald Isle, Brittani Comeaux of Lafayette, LA; grandsons Gage Styron of Morehead City, NC and Blane Smith of Indianapolis, IN; siblings, Vickie McComb Hammond of Roanoke, VA, Billie "Sissy" McComb of Elgin, TX, Robert Andres, Michael Lee Andres and Linda DeMars of Ft. Worth, TX; Dyer Dean "DD" and Ruthie Moore of Cleveland, OH; nephews Barry Hammond of Chantilly, VA, Armen Fisher, Jr of Richlands, NC; dear friends, Albert and Carol Taylor, Jr Taylor, Gary "Jed" Hewitt, all of "The Hill" and JT Garrett of Cherokee, NC;  many beloved cousins in Carteret County, WV and TX.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ted R. McComb, Sr and Nellie June McComb; sons, Teddy Jr and Billy McComb; sister, Patricia McComb of Jacksonville, NC and brother, Clay Grady McComb of Ft. Worth, TX.
