Sylvester Lawrence, Jr., 86, of Otway, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Heritage Health Care at Taylor Place.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday at Otway Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Dennis and Eddie Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Piner-Gillikin Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marie Lawrence of the home; daughter, Cathy Taylor and husband J.E. ; three brothers, H. B. Lawrence and wife Myrtle, Billy Lawrence and wife Millie and Charlie Smith all of Otway; sister-in-law, Erma Lawrence; six grandchildren, Theresa Dixon and husband Johnny, Eddie Taylor and wife Bonnie, Albert Taylor and wife Melissa, Celeste Louie, Scott Shelton and Hugh Shelton, Jr.; nine great-grandchildren, Justin, Jacob, Savannah, Matthew, Faith, Ashley, Kelsey, Leah and Ethen; one great-great-grandchild, Carter Shelton also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, June Shelton Martin, three brothers, Hassel Lawrence, Tilton Lawrence and Hardy Lawrence, three sisters, Angus Willis, Eunice Beverage and Elizabeth Nelson, and a great-grandson, Sonny Brewer.
The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday at the church.
Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to Otway Free Will Baptist Church, PO Box 293, Beaufort, NC 28516.
