Susan Carol Gray

Susan Carol Gray, 63, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away at her home on Friday, January 31, 2025.

Born on February 15, 1961, in Carteret County, NC, Susan was the loving daughter of the late Ulrich Gurney Mizell Sr. and Hettie Mae Mizell. She shared a deep and close-knit relationship with her parents and was often described as a "daddy's girl." Her family stood at the core of her life, shaping her values and nurturing her compassionate spirit.

With a heart dedicated to helping others, Susan received her certification as a caregiver and embarked on a rewarding career in the health care field. Her skills and kindness touched the lives of numerous families, providing comfort and support during difficult times.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, James Douglas Gray; brother, Ulrich Gurney Mizell Jr. (Pam) of Newport, Worth Mizell (Kathy) of Manchester, TN, and Larry Mizelle (Dianne) of Las Vegas, NV; and grandson, who were her pride and joy, Shemar Jordan Mizell and Josiah Mizell.

In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her daughter, Krystal Mae Mizell and her paternal grandfather, who she had a special bond with, Eli Ranier Mizell Jr.
