Steve Cook

Steve Cook, 73, of Morehead City, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

Steve was born in Augusta, Georgia on September 13, 1948, to the late Thomas and Martha Cook. Honorably serving his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, Steve displayed bravery in combat and was a valiant soldier. Upon his return, Steve worked for the Railroad for 15 years before making his way to the Crystal Coast of North Carolina where he began a new career as a boat captain. Steve, was an excellent manager, laying out expectations, providing support when needed and supervising the entire on-board effort to ensure a positive outcome. Captain Steve was at home in his own skin and was a joy to sail with.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Cook; daughter, Shannon Lee Cook of Augusta, GA; son, Stephen Travis Cook of Morehead City; 4 stepchildren, Tina, Tracy, Mike, and Katy; brother, Tom Cook and wife Joy of Augusta, GA; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his stepson, David.
