Signa Roberts, 97, of Newport, passed away peacefully July 29, surrounded by all of her children.
Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at Newport River Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Devon Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Amariah Garner Cemetery.
Mrs. Roberts lived a life that spoke of her devotion to her religion and faith in God. Her children, grandchildren, and family were the light of her life. She enjoyed oil painting, playing the piano and needlework.
She is survived by three daughters, Josephine Chapman and husband Walter of Garner, Signa Faye Spence of Newport, and Sarah Roberts Winberry and husband David F. of Cedar Point; son, Walter D. "Danny" Roberts, Jr. of Newport; four grandchildren, Walter D. Roberts, III and wife Sarah R. of Raleigh, John C. Roberts of Raleigh, Julie Spence McKnight and husband Brian of Cary, and William Roberts Spence of Raleigh; three great-grandchildren, Lillian Faye McKnight and Sarah Grace McKnight both of Cary, and Ellery Reese Roberts of Raleigh.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter D. Roberts, Sr, parents, Major and Sarah Simmons, four siblings, three brothers and a sister.
The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Tuesday at Munden Funeral Home.
