Shirley Tempie Hunter, 83, of Morehead City, passed away Friday, March 29, 2019, at Crystal Bluffs Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2019, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, officiated by the Rev. Dr John Pollock.
She is survived by her daughters, Delores Russell Harris and husband James of Louisburg and Tami Russell and companion Jennifer Bramlett of Morehead City; son, Alex Russell of Newport; step-daughters, Sandra O. Cannon and husband Curtis of Newport, Katherine O. Carlson of Broad Creek and Wendi O. Johnson of Wilson; sisters, Eunice Browning of Newport, Jeanette Deibert and husband Glenn of Stedman, Hazel Hardesty of New Bern and Alice Hardesty of Mill Creek; brothers, Jack W. Hunter of Morehead City and Ivey “IJ” James Hunter and wife Sally of Morehead City; grandchildren, Jessica R. Guthrie and husband Richard of Wendell, Jordan A. Clay and wife Chrissy of Virginia Beach, VA and Julie A. Bedell and husband AJ of Anderson, MO; great-grandchildren, Hilary J. Guthrie and fiancé Matthew Parker of Wake Forest, Syler H. Guthrie of Greenville and Carter L. Guthrie of Wendell; and great-great grandchild, Emerson L. Parker of Wake Forest.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank H. Oglesby; parents, Troy Hunter, Sr. and Lillian Best Hunter; sisters, Barbara Jean Hunter, Edna Glancy and June Smith; and brother, Troy Hunter, Jr.
