Shirley Rosemond Willis Baldree

Shirley Rosemond Willis Baldree, age 85, of Morehead City, died peacefully on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, with Reverend Joe Motley officiating.  Interment will follow at Bayview Cemetery.

Shirley was born April 24, 1932, in Morehead City, NC, the daughter of Charles Harold Willis and Maude Springle Willis.  She graduated from Morehead City High School and, in 1951, married Harrell Kittrell Baldree, the love of her life, who preceded her in death.  In addition to raising three daughters, Shirley worked as a telephone operator, a secretary, a nursing assistant, and even owned a Beach and Shag Club where she and Harrell could dance to their hearts’ content.  The two of them loved to go to Myrtle Beach for SOS and made many friends in the Beach Club circuit.  They were inducted into the Atlantic Beach Shaggers Hall of Fame in 1999.  In addition to dancing with Harrell, she loved to cook and sew.

Shirley was an active member of the community and a lifelong member of Franklin Memorial United Methodist church, where she was a devoted volunteer and sang alto in the choir.

Shirley is survived by three daughters, Rosemond Baldree Ward and husband, Ed, of Newport, Brenda Baldree Gillikin and husband, Dan, of Morehead City, and Ruth Baldree Puckett and husband, Steve, of Beaufort; three grandchildren, David Tyler Harris, Reid Harrison Puckett, and Haley Anderson Puckett; two great grandchildren, Easton Cash Harris and Ella Rose Harris.

The family wishes to thank all of the loving angels who took care of Mother at Harborview Nursing Home, Carteret Health Care, and Crystal Coast Hospice House.

Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
