Sherrill Williford Barbour
April 20, 1939 — November 11, 2015
First Sgt. Sherrill Williford Barbour, Ret., 76, of Newport passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at home surrounded by his family.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Community Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Knox, Rev. Nick Nichols and Daryl Garner officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
He was a member of Newport Masonic Lodge # 706, and the Newport Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Sue Barbour of the home; two daughters, Leslie Carroll Peaden, and Jessica Rae Barbour Jones and husband Donald Robert Jones Jr. both of Morehead City; three sons, Jeffrey Barbour and wife Sherry Balance of Salty Shores, Terry Barbour of Atlantic Beach and Chris Barbour of White Lake; one brother, Stacy Barbour and wife Gail of Adam’s Creek; one sister, Alice Johnson of Adam’s Creek; seven grandchildren and one on the way, and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruby Stanley Barbour.
The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday, November 13, 2015 at Munden Funeral Home & Crematory.
