Scott “Sam” Allen Manley, 54, passed away on February 28, 2014 in Afghanistan while working for Rockwell Collins.

A funeral service with full military honors will be held at Salter Path United Methodist Church, 1200 Salter Path Rd, Salter Path, NC 28575 at 2:00pm on Sunday March 16, 2014. Following the funeral, Scott “Sam” Allen Manley will be cremated at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, NC.

Sam was born on June 23,1959 in Dallas, Texas to the late Robert Lee Woods and Sunshine Rose Hall. Scott graduated from Owasso High School in Owasso, Oklahoma in 1977. After high school, he joined the Air Force where he retired after 24 years. For the past 7 years, he has worked as a government contractor in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sam met the love of his life Debbie Salter in 2004 and they married April 5, 2007.

He is survived by his wife Debbie Worley Manley of Newport, NC; Children Tracy Manley Ellis of Las Vegas NV, Kyle Lee Manley of Littleton CO, Natalie Rose and Alexander Scott Manley of Adubon NJ, Samantha Lynn and Whitney Renee Salter of Newport NC; Siblings, Robert Andrew Manley of Van Alstyne TX, Sherrel Manley Breazeale of Mesquite TX, Sonny Ray Manley of Chanute KS, Debbie Lott Corkern of Franklinton LA, Linda Sue Allen of Quinlan TX; Grandchildren, Ethan Ellis of Las Vegas NV, Gracelynn and Lillian Kruger of Newport NC; A stepfather Bobby Jones Manley of Quinlan TX, a stepmother Wilkie Woods of Bogalusa LA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and the family pet, Abby Manley.

Scott “Sam” was preceded in death by his father Robert Lee Woods, his mother Sunshine Hall Manley,and a brother Bobby Jay Manley.

For all of our family and friends, a visitation will be held at Munden Funeral Home, 2112 Arendell St, Morehead City, NC 28557 on Saturday March 15 between 6-8pm.
