Sarita Bedsworth Thompson

Sarita Bedsworth Thompson, 73, of Atlantic Beach, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Carteret Health Care.

Her funeral service will be held 12 pm Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Morehead City with Rev. Dr. Nate Leonard and Rev. Darrell Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Cemetery.

She was a member of First Baptist Church since she was twelve years old. She sang in the choir and served in the pre-school department for many years and was on the history committee. She was a volunteer coordinator for Meals on Wheels for over 17 years.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Vernon Thompson of the home; son, Craig and wife Francy of Southern Pines; daughter, Christi Piner and husband Eddie of New Braunfels, TX; mother, Doris Bedsworth of Morehead City; granddaughters, Jordan Thompson Hart and husband Josh of Davidson, Payton Thompson of Boone; grandsons, Noah Thompson of Southern Pines, Logan and Jacob Piner of New Braunfels, TX; brother, George S. Bedsworth of Morehead City; sister-in-law, Betty Thompson of Chocowinity; nephews, Hank Thompson and wife Laura of Pinehurst, Christian Bedsworth and wife Emily of Pine Knoll Shores; nieces, Natalie Brincefield and husband Ray of Raleigh, Allison Long and husband Jonathan of Beaufort; and four great-nephews and one great-niece.

She was preceded in death by her father, George S. Bedsworth, Sr.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Floyd and Estelle Thompson; and brother-in-law, Bill Thompson.

The family will receive friends 10:30 am – 12:00 pm prior to the service at First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice or First Baptist Church designated for NC Baptist Children’s Home, 810 Bridges St, Morehead City, NC 28557.
