Sarah "Belva" Yeomans

Sarah “Belva” Yeomans, 91, of Harkers Island, passed away Saturday, June 29­, 2019, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at the Lighthouse Chapel on Harkers Island, officiated by Rev. Ricky Rose and Rev. Paul Mann. Interment will follow at Vergie Mae Cemetery.

Belva was a faithful servant who loved the Lord and her church family at the Lighthouse Chapel on Harkers Island. Belva was a pillar of strength who was dedicated to her family. Her nurturing spirit allowed her to lovingly raise her kids, grandkids and continued on as she helped raise her great-grand child. She was loved dearly by her family and will be missed by many.

She is survived by her sisters, Frances Lewis of Otway and Nancy Wells of Otway; brother, Leon Rose of Chincoteague, VA; daughter-in-law, Jeanie Lester of Otway; grandchildren, Tony Wayne Gray Jr. of New York, Kenneth Hayes Gray of New York, David Keith Gray of New York, Dale Stuart Gray of New York, Randy “Hoss” Goodwin of Cedar Island, Joseph Goodwin of New York, Teresa Lester Newkirk of Otway, Josh Lester of Otway, Mark Lester of Atlantic and Gary Lester Jr. of Texas; great-granddaughter, Sarah Carolyn Pittman; and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Yeomans; father, Telford Rose; mother, Nancy Ann Willis; daughters, Carolyn Day and Alice Shay; sons, Gary Lester and Roy “Joe” Lester; sisters, Vonda Juanita Lawrence, Juanita Rose and Annie Lee Rose; brothers, James Evan Rose, Charles Rose, Dallas Rose and William “Pete” Rose; granddaughter, Carolyn Michelle Lester; and grandson, Roy Lester.

Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019, at the Lighthouse Chapel on Harkers Island.
