Sarah (Morris) Steele

November 15, 1928 — March 29, 2013

Sarah Morris Steele, 84 of Advance NC died Friday March 29th at Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City, NC. Ms. Steele was born in Winston Salem, NC on November 15th 1928 to Frank Brown Morris and Myrtle Ashworth Morris.  She graduated from Reynolds High School in 1945 and Greensboro Women's College in 1949.

Sarah loved playing bridge with the  Forsyth Country Club 1201 Bridge Group; she was a member of numerous garden and book clubs.  She was also a member of Clemmons Presbyterian Church.

Sarah was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years William Perrin (Perk) Steele and a sister Lena Morris Petree.  She is survived by her sons John W. Gainey III, Frank H. Gainey and wife Diane Gainey; grandchildren Kristin Gainey Ferree and husband David Ferree, Alicia Gainey Welborn and husband Travis Welborn, Ashley Gainey Brothers and husband Timothy Brothers, Brooke Hodges Gainey and fiancée Christopher Narron, Frank Holland Gainey, Jr. and Hanna Elizabeth Toler.  Three stepchildren, William Perrin (Bill) Steele, Jr. and wife Sandra Steele, Elizabeth Steele, Marilyn Steele Paschal and husband David Paschal;  8 step grandchildren, William Scott Steele and wife Jennifer Steele, Perrin Steele Murray and husband The Rev. Tom Murray, Steven Jeremy Vance and wife Shelley Vance, Leah Vance Hands and husband Derek Hands, David Slade Paschal and wife Emily Paschal, Justin Steele Paschal and wife Ashley Paschal, Kenneth Alan Steele, Blair Lawson Whitworth and wife Katie Whitworth; 15 step great grandchildren, Virginia Steele Murray, William Thomas Murray, Evie Scott Murray, Sophia Grace Murray, Ellie Anna Steele, John (Perk) Perrin Steele, Frances Lawson Whitworth, Nathan Charles Whitworth, Margaret (Maggie) Ellen Whitworth, Lucy Haven Whitworth, Joshua Brodie Vance, Oliver Owen Vance, Carson Hands, Charlotte Steele Paschal, David Knox Paschal; and a sister Mary Morris Houbolt and husband John.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday April 6th 1:00 pm at Clemmons Presbyterian Church by the fountain at the Columbarium.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Crystal Coast Hospice House PO Box 483 Morehead City, NC 28557.
