Sandra “Sandi” Piatt, 81, of Havelock, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville.
A memorial service to honor Sandi’s life will be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the family home in Havelock.
Sandi was born on September 7, 1943, in Washington DC, to the late Frank and Joyce Sandrik. She was a devoted member of the Church of the Nazarene and graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University with a degree in teaching. Sandi dedicated her career to educating young minds from 1964 to 1974. Following this period, she continued to inspire students as a substitute teacher in the Havelock area, also taking the opportunity to teach English as a second language at the local college.
In addition to her passion for teaching, Sandi had a creative spirit and found joy in crafting, artwork, gardening, and cooking. She enjoyed experimenting with new recipes, but it was her signature meal of hamburgers and French fries remained the favorite of family and friends.
Above all, Sandi was a loving and devoted wife for 56½ years, a supportive mother, and a proud grandmother. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished each moment spent with them. Sandi's legacy of love and dedication will be remembered by all who knew her.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, John F. Piatt; daughter, Aimee (Piatt) Olson and husband Carl of Nashville, TN; son, Michael Piatt and fiancé Asher Stanley of Havelock, NC; grandchildren, Johnny Howell, Juliette Olson, Zoe (Piatt) Kee, and Luke (Piatt) Kee; and her furry friends, her cats, Po, Molly, Gracie, Half Pint, Pumpkin, and Bear.
In addition to her parents, Sandi was preceded in death by her brother, Steven Sandirk.
