Samuel Thomas King of Cape Carteret, N.C. , formerly of Snow Hill and Kinston went on to be with Jesus November 29th, 2009. Born in Warren County July 18th, 1934 Sam moved to Kinston, N.C. in January of 1953 to work for DuPont. He enlisted in the Army in 1954 and was stationed at Masawa Air Force Base in Northern Japan. After his service he returned to DuPont where he remained for 39 years until his first retirement. After retiring from DuPont, Sam continued to work for Chemtex International for 8 additional years working in locations around the world. He then retired to play and fish with his grandchildren at the beach.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 2nd at Cape Carteret Baptist Church, Cape Carteret, NC where Sam has been a member since moving to the area. Sam was a Trustee and has served on the Counting Committee, the Building and Grounds Committee, and the Long Range Planning Committee. His most recent accomplishment was serving as the Construction liaison for the new Family Life Center that was completed in September of this year. Visitation will be held 12:00 pm prior to the service at the church. Burial service will follow at 4:00 pm, at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston, NC.
Sam is survived by his wife, Beth of 43 years and 2 sons: Sam, wife Michelle and children Morgan and Hayes of Greenville, NC and Todd, wife Crissy and children Parker and Ethan of Snow Hill, NC, a stepson, Cecil Hardman of Richlands, NC and family. Also surviving is Sam?s mother Henrietta, brother Ronald, wife Carolyn of LaGrange, NC and family, sister Nancy Maxwell of Lakeland, Fl and family, sister Connie Agans, husband Billy of Pelletier, NC and family.
