Sammie Gillikin, 75, of Bettie, died Thursday, June 27, 2013 at his home surrounded by family.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday at Gillikin Family Cemetery with Rev. Manley Rose officiating.
Sammie retired from South Atlantic Dredging Company where he worked for many years as a launchman. He was also a member of the Crissie Wright Lodge #741 and the Sudan Shriners. He was a loving and caring uncle and a father figure to Pamela and Kendall Gillikin.
He is survived by a sister Effie Mae Gillikin of Bettie; niece Pamela Gillikin of the home; nephew Kendall Gillikin and wife Ella of Bettie and their son Jeremy; and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sarah and Ivey Gillikin, sisters Reva Wetherington, Grace Gillikin, and Doris Taylor, brothers Zelva Gillikin, Monroe Gillikin, and Ivey (Bill) Gillikin.
