Sally Smith Gould

Sally S. Gould, 84, of Newport, died Friday, May 6, 2016, at Carteret Health Care Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Newport Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Carroll officiating. Interment to follow at Cedar Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Gould, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, was actively involved in the Newport community.  She was a Charter member of the Newport Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.  She supported the Newport Pig Cooking and was an active member of Newport Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Steve Gould, Ross Gould and wife Annmarie, Debbie G. McGowan and husband Barry, Gary Gould and wife Mary, and Lisa G. Bedsole and husband French, all of Newport; brothers, Manly Smith of Newport, twin A.G. “Sam” Smith of Merritt Island, Florida, and Mitchell Smith of Morehead City; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Milton R. Gould, Sr.; parents, John Ivey and Zilphia Smith; sisters, Rose Abshagen and Margie Smith; and brother, Walter Smith.

The family will receive friends from 6:00- 8:00 pm Monday, May 9, 2016, at Newport Baptist Church.
