Sadie Willis Lewis, 89, of Otway, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at her home.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2019, at the Willie Willis Cemetery on Harkers Island, officiated by Pastor Manley Rose, Jr.
Sadie was born and raised in Broad Creek till her teenage years when she moved to Harkers Island. When she was 16 years old, she married her one and only true love, James “Danny Boy” Lewis. She was a dedicated employee of the Fish House where she worked most of her life. She loved her church, Refuge Fellowship, where she was one of the oldest members. Sadie never met a stranger and was a friend to all.
She is survived by her daughters, Lois Hester and husband Anthony of Gloucester and Violet Gillikin and husband Kyle of Otway; sons, Mitchell Lewis and wife Melinda of Harkers Island, Jim “Scoochie” Lewis of Otway, Claude “Nook” Lewis of Gloucester and Grady Lewis of Florida; brother, Bob Willis of Broad Creek; daughters-in-law, Vera Nixon of Otway and Tina Lewis of Gloucester; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Danny Boy” Lewis; parents, Jim and Ludoria Willis; daughter, Nola Dare; sons, Carson Lewis Sr. and Blake Lewis; grandson, Carson Lewis, Jr.; 2 sisters; and 2 brothers.
