Ruth Virginia (Whealton) Smith

Ruth Virginia Smith, 91, a native of Morehead City, died Monday January 23, at her home surrounded by her family.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday at Bayview Cemetery, with the Chaplain Jack Mumford officiating.
She is survived by a son Ronald E. Smith and wife Linda of Morehead City, a daughter Nina Dewberry and husband James "Jimmy" of Reston, VA: one brother Alvah Whealton of Winston-Salem, and a sister Therese Rhodes of Morehead City: six grandchildren: fifteen great grandchildren: and three great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Master gunnery sergeant Ralph E. Smith, parents Joshua and Nina Willis, four brothers Harold, Daniel, Kenneth, and Thurlow Whealton, and one sister Lillie Bell Seamon.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Munden Funeral Home.
The family respectfully request that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Carteret County 3500 Arendell St. Morehead City, NC 28557.
