Ruth Elliott Lilly

Ruth Elliott Lilly, 88, of Newport, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at St. James United Methodist Church with Reverend Tom Supplee officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall after the interment.

Ruth was a member of St. James United Methodist Church where she enjoyed being a part of the Women’s Ministry there. Among her other interests was being a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Ruth was faithful in her work as Manager of the Newport Elementary School cafeteria where she retired from and was loved by all of the children there.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Lilly Smith and husband, John, of Newport: sons, Don Albert Lilly of Newport, James Frank Lilly and wife, Karen, of Beaufort; sister, Doris Locklear of New Smyrna Beach, FL; brother, Braxton Elliott and wife, Dorothy, of Trinity; grandchildren, Jamie Higgins, Adam Smith, Cameron Lilly; and great-grandchildren, Ava Marie Smith, Samantha Paige Higgins, Lily Mae Smith, Kyle Patrick Higgins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Franklin Lilly and parents, Mansel and Annie Elliott.

The viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at St. James United Methodist Church.
