Ruth Crittenton

Mrs. Ruth Freeman Crittenton, 81, of Morehead City, passed away peacefully Monday, December 12, 2016 at Harborview Health Care.

There will be a private family service at a later date.

Ruth was born and raised in Durham, NC and lived in Hurdle Mills, NC for 35 years before moving to Morehead City in 2011.  She worked at the UNC Lineberger Cancer Research Center for many years until retirement.  She loved planting flowers and shopping with her friends.  She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will truly be missed and will live forever in our hearts.

The family would like to thank the staff at Harborview Health Care and Community Hospice.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 61 years, Billy Crittenton; son, Keith Crittenton and wife Elaine; daughters, Karen Crittenton and partner Curt Robbins, and Bridgette C. Colton and husband Mitch; 4 grandchildren, Bobby Austin and wife Kellye, Bree Singleton and husband Michael, Joshua Carroll and partner Danielle Milke, and Matt Crittenton; 2 great-grandchildren, Riley Carroll and Hunter Austin; sister, Aurelia F. Harvell and husband Tommy of Lillington, NC; her best friend since childhood, Sue Graham; also many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dobson and Ruth (Pate) Freeman; sister, Maxine Freeman Bondy; and brothers, D.W. Freeman II and Carlysle Freeman.
