Ruby Ingram Perkins Guthrie
December 10, 1927 — July 19, 2011
Ruby Ingram Perkins Guthrie, 83, of Tarboro, NC, formerly of Harkers Island, NC, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Heritage Hospital in Tarboro.
Services will be held 10:00 am Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of Harkers Island with Bishop Kevin Nelson presiding. Interment will follow at 4:00 pm at Hamilton Town Cemetery.
Mrs. Guthrie was employed by the state of North Carolina as a drawbridge tender on the Atlantic Beach Bridge until its' closing in 1987. She then worked at the Cedar Island Ferry Visitor's Center until her retirement in 1994.
She is survived by her daughters, Mildred Carson of Winterville, NC, Jennifer Wells of Ayden, NC and Diane Collings of Springville, UT; sons, Charles Perkins, III of Pinetops, NC, Eddie Guthrie of Newport, NC and Larry Perkins of Brunswick, GA; sister, Linda Guthrie of Harkers Island, NC; brother, Garlon Ingram, also of Harkers Island, NC; 19 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Perkins, Jr. and husband, Julian C. Guthrie.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at the church.
