Roy “Sam” Salter, 80, of Salter Path, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
His funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Munden Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Sam spent his life on the water as a commercial fisherman.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela Salter and companion Mike Tyndal of Salter Path; sons, Dean Salter of the home, Charlie Ryder of the home, Danny Salter and wife Lacy of Beaufort; sisters, Pansy Murdock of Wildwood, Lavone Taylor of Morehead City and Bessie Long and husband Leslie of Morehead City; grandchildren, Joshua Salter an fiancé Haley Grant, Jack Salter and Sadie Salter; great-grandchildren, Finley Salter and Emma Sterling Salter; and family friend, Marlene Hyatt.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Salter; parents, Leroy and Minnie Salter; 7 sisters; and 4 brothers.
Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Munden Funeral Home.
