Royce Emory, Sr., 87, of Cedar Island, died peacefully at home surrounded by his children, grandchildren and brother on Sunday, September 23, 2012.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at Cedar Island United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Island Community Cemetery.
Mr. Emory was a member of Cedar Island United Methodist Church, VFW Post # 2401, American Legion Post # 0295 and the Disabled American Veterans. He served in the US Navy and was honorably discharged in February 1946.
He was a commercial fisherman most of his life and was known as "the Mullet King" in this area. He was a duck hunting guide for Hog Island Hunting Club and later for himself.
He leaves behind four children, Royce V. Emory, Jr., Patricia Elaine Styron, Karen Emory Smith, and Robert Ellis Emory: grandchildren and great grand-children, numerous nieces and nephews, and brother and longtime companion Roderick Emory.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Emory and their twins, Warren Ellis and Phyllis Carolyn.
The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Tuesday at the church.
