Rowena I. Hufnagel, 76, of Havelock, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at her home.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, January 3, 2022, at St. Michael’s Community Chapel (Cherry Point Base Chapel), officiated by Father Ignatius Madumere. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at Munden Funeral Home in Havelock.
Rowena was born on October 16, 1945, in Tampa, Florida, to the late Arthur and Pearl V. Callen. Honorably serving in the United States Army, she worked faithfully as a nurse during her 4 years of service. Upon completing her studies at the University of Maryland, Rowena obtained her master’s degree as a Master's Prepared Nurse and went on to assist numerous patients providing and coordinating comprehensive care for each.
Her love and devotion to the Lord was evident in her life and she appreciated her church family at St. Michael’s Community Chapel where she was a member. Always one to have a song in her heart, she enjoyed singing with the Craven County Community Chorus. Rowena will be fondly remembered as a loving wife of 53 years, exceptional mother, and proud grandmother.
Rowena is survived by her husband, Howard Hufnagel of the home; daughter, Amy Hufnagel O’Brien and husband Chris of Odenton, MD; son, David Hufnagel and wife Crystal of South Riding, VA; grandchildren, Benjamin and Spencer; and furry dog companions, Lacey and Harley.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome.
