Rosalee Shepherd

Rosalee Shepherd, 78, of Newport, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016 at home.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, June 27, 2016 at St. Egberts Catholic Church with Father Tom and Monsignor Frank Moeslein presiding. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Rosalee was born and raised in Carteret County. She met her husband Donald while he was stationed at Camp Lejune Marine Corps Base. A devoted military wife, she and her family lived in Hawaii, California and Maryland, but always returned home. She will be remembered for her ability to remember birthdays and the cards she sent to those she cared for. She never met a stranger and had compassion to spare. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother who will be truly missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Violet Githens and husband Greg of Newport, Mary Gould and husband Gary of Newport and Marlene Norris and husband Jim of Morehead City; sons, Vincent Shepherd and Milton Shepherd both of Newport; and grandchildren, Sierra Pilotto, Shawn Gould, Lorna Goodnight and Todd Norris; and great grandchildren, Kyle, Garrett and Aiden Pilotto.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Donald Shepherd; parents, Milton and Eva Adams Mason; sister, Violet Marie and grandson, Josiah.
The family will welcome friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
