Rosa Katherine “Kathy” Wiggins, 86, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Born on September 16, 1938, in Ayden, NC, Kathy was the daughter of the late Edward and Carrie Hudson. She had a fulfilling 33-year career with Connor Homes, where she played an integral role in assisting numerous families with their credit and loan applications.
Kathy's life was characterized by her deep faith in the Lord and the loving example she set for those around her. Each evening, she would pray for her loved ones, for protection and blessings for future generations. Her unwavering faith was seen in every aspect of her life. Never complaining, Kathy was known for her cheerful demeanor and often replied with "I’m terrific" when asked how she was doing.
Her joy was often expressed through laughter and dance, reflecting her vibrant spirit. Kathy always had a tender heart and love for animals. She cherished the time spent cooking for her family, particularly her famous chicken and pastry and her “to die for” buttermilk biscuits.
Family was central to Kathy’s life, and she found her greatest happiness in their company. She took immense pride in her grandchildren and her eyes would light up at the mention of her great-grandchildren. Kathy will be fondly remembered for her unwavering love, infectious spirit, and the treasured memories she created with her family.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Robert Wiggins; daughters, Diane Mason (Jerry) of Roseboro, NC, Anne Turnage (Jay) of Morehead City, NC, Sandi Baker of New Bern, NC, and Tonya Wiggins Bibens (Matt) of Waynesville, NC; son, John Curry (Dawn) of Ayden, NC; son-in-law, Buddy Beam of Morehead City, NC; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her daughter, Tracy Beam, and siblings, Susie Nelson and Edward Earl Hudson.
As an expression of sympathy, contributions may be made in Kathy’s memory to the Carteret County Humane Society, 853 Hibbs Rd., Newport, NC 28570.
