Ronald "Dean" Montgomery

Ronald “Dean” Montgomery, 83, of Cape Carteret, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

A memorial service, with military honors, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at Carolina Home and Garden at 4778 Highway 24 East, Newport NC 28570 (2.8 miles east of Cape Carteret).

Dean honorably served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He applied his skill and structure to his successful career as a superintendent for T.A. Loving Company where he worked for many years in bridge construction. Dean was an enthusiastic Duke fan and always enjoyed a good NASCAR race. He loved to fish and enjoyed the peacefulness of being on the water as well as the thrill of a good catch. Dean was an amazing and caring man which made him a great Scoutmaster for the Boy Scout Troop in Elmira, New York.

Dean’s kindness and caring ways were known by many, and whether family or friend, most referred to him as, “Dad”.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice “Sally” Hill Montgomery of the home; sons, Michael Montgomery and wife Belinda of Arlington, TX, Mark Montgomery of North Richland Hills, TX; sister, Doris Taylor of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren, Britain Montgomery, Devon Montgomery, Christopher Montgomery, Adrian Montgomery, Matthew Montgomery and Nicole Montgomery; special niece, Tammy Harvey; special great niece, Kimberly Card; special great nephew, Kyle Harvey; several loving great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and his furry friends, Tobi Rae and Tippi Mae.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Kathleen Montgomery; daughter, Lynne Ann Montgomery; and daughter-in-law, Sherry Montgomery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Carteret Humane Society at Post Office Box 357, Newport NC 28570.
