Ronald E. Woodard

Ronald E. Woodard, 86, of Cape Carteret, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

Ronald was born to Guy and Thelma Woodard at Fort Bragg, NC, on September 25, 1937. Ron pursued a civilian career of employment at Fort Bragg for 36 years and retired in 1992 as the first Director of Civilian Personnel for the Special Operations Command, a 3-Star Major Command with headquarters at Fort Bragg.

Ron held other important positions in the field of civilian personnel management for more than 20 years; created many personnel policies as the installation Labor Relations Specialist for 18 years negotiating with Unions representing rank-and-file employees and often represented the civilian workforce at meetings and conferences held locally and at other Dept. of Army and/or Federal Agency locations.

He is survived by his wife, Mary J. Woodard; daughters, Rhonda Woodard (husband Rudy) and Sharon Woodard; and two grandchildren, Nicolas Cassanova and Chelsea Cassanova.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and brother Guy M. Woodard Jr.

He will be laid to rest at Lafayette Memorial Cemetery in Fayetteville, NC in a private ceremony.
