Ronald J. Rostek

Ronald J. Rostek, 79, of New Bern, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at his home.

Ronald was born on February 6, 1945, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late August and Madeline Rostek. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine, completing four tours of duty in Vietnam. His dedication to the Corps defined his life and instilled in him a strong sense of perseverance, hard work, and pride. Even in retirement, Ronald remained a Marine at heart, always living by the motto, “Semper Fidelis.”

Ronald was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan and was always on hand to cheer on his beloved team. He also had a lifelong love of Ford vehicles. A family man at heart, Ronald cherished his loved ones above all else. Ronald was known for his generosity, always eager to help a friend in need. He never met a stranger, always striking up conversations and connecting with everyone he met. His storytelling and humor will be dearly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Marlys of the home; sons, Ronald Rostek Jr. (Virginia) of Havelock, N.C., Kenneth Alan Rostek (Vanessa) of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Lisa Marie Marasco (Robert) of Tucson, AZ; brothers, Bobby Rostek of Pittsburgh, PA, Richard Rostek of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Leslie, Ashley, Phillip, Colton, Devon, Aaron, Samantha; and great-grandchildren, Gabby, Lucy, Mason, Emmett, Logan, and Gemma.

In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his brother, August Rostek; sisters, Jeannie Hayes, Marlene Zebra, Patricia Kasten; grandchild, Robbie; and great-grandchild, Grace.
