Ronald Eugene Mooring

On Sunday, November 12th, 2023, Ronald Eugene Mooring, aged 87, passed away peacefully.

Born in Wayne County, NC, on January 6th, 1936, he was one of eleven children to the late John Vick Mooring and Mary Ezzell Mooring. In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his son, Mark Mooring and his siblings, Ray Mooring, Durwood Mooring, Helen Aycock, Charles Mooring, John "Pete" Mooring, Harold Mooring, and Dan Mooring. 

Ronald is survived by his wife of 45 years, Delores Lancaster Mooring; children, Rhonda Keefer (Gary), Andrea Beth Pender (Dean), and Kevin Whitfield; grandchildren, Aaron Keefer (Jessica), Chad Keefer, Lainey Overton; brothers, William “Bill” Mooring and Richard Mooring; sister, Wilma Monson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ronald was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Morehead City. He owned Colony Daycare and Kids Kampus childcare centers. Ronald proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Ronald enjoyed being outdoors. Nothing was more satisfying than a day on the water boating and fishing. Ronald had a passion for the Corvette Club and collecting antique trucks and tractors. He adored his wife Delores and together they loved to travel. The Fourth of July was a special celebration for him as he enjoyed raising the flag, firing his cannons, and feeding family and friends. He was a member of the Bojangles breakfast club and spent most mornings sitting around the table telling stories and sharing his faith. Ronald was incredibly loved and will be dearly missed. 

The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. on November 16^th followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 3606 Country Club Road, Morehead City. Interment will take place after the service at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
