Ronald Benoit Cole, 81, of Beaufort, passed away Friday, December 14, 2018, at home.

His memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall at 126 Copeland Rd., Beaufort, NC 28516.

Ronald was one of four children, born to John Wesley Cole and Thursette Valentine Cole. He thrived in this loving Christian home and was taught family values. While growing up, he was educated in the Philadelphia school system. He was not afraid of hard work. This allowed him to care for family matters. He cherished his 5 energetic children, numerous grands and great grands.

His hard-core demeanor softened as his spiritual focus changed in 1980 as he studied what the Bible really teaches. The Bible revealed many marvelous truths about the benefits of putting on the new personality that God’s Holy Spirit gives to people whose desire is to serve him out of a pure heart. He believed what he learned and showed it by being baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness in 1981. He spirituality showed this by joining Bea, his wife, as a full-time preacher devoting 70 hours a month.

Ron adhered to Matthew 28:19,20 searching out from door to door those who desired an intimate spiritual relationship with the true God Jehovah.

Cole lived life to the full, his delight was fishing and outdoor sports. His physical and spiritual life was special to him. Unafraid of new challenges with Jehovah God, Jesus Christ, and his wife backing him in 1977. Rural living on the Eastern Shore of Virginia became their beloved way of living. Change in careers brought him to Virginia Beach as a truck driver. He was known for his light heartedness and his activity in helping others come to know God’s word.

In 2005, he moved to Carteret County. With every move his spiritual family expanded over Cole’s life span of eighty-one years. Forty-nine years marks his legacy with his wife, Beatrice Cole.

It’s not easy to watch someone you love decline from day to day. It’s even more difficult to respect a decision to refuse further treatment. Cole survived hurricane Florence, dialysis, and moving from place to place.

Courageously, he decided to face death on his terms. Did he have some sort of death wish? No! Did he hope to go to heaven? No! He was confident that the God he served would remember him in the resurrection to a paradise on earth. Thus, he shared Bible information from the car to persons he met five days before his death. He mustered up energy, his hope is sure. He will be there. Will you be there?
