Rodney Paul Cahoon, 73, South River, died Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Carteret Health Care.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, April 11, 2016 at Edward’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Smith officiating.  Interment will follow at The Cannon Family Cemetery in South River.

Mr. Cahoon, former owner of South River Seafood, loved people and touched many lives along the way.  He was a very active member of Edward’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church where he served on the Board of Directors and also belonged to the Franklin Masonic Lodge of Beaufort for over 40 years.  He also organized Boy Scout Troup #572 in the 1960’s.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty Cahoon and one son, Ken Cahoon and wife Tammy of Raleigh; two brothers, Linnie Cahoon and wife Phyllis and Tony Cahoon and wife Barbara Ann, all of South River; five grandchildren, Rodney Allen Cahoon and fiancé’ Amanda, David Cahoon and girlfriend Lauren, Jeffery Cahoon, Melissa Caito, and Anthony Caito; and great-granddaughters, Melody and Emma.

He was preceded by his son, Jeff Cahoon; parents, Paul and Lottie Cahoon; and grandson Frankie Caito.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Sunday at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
