Robert A. "Bob" Malone 74, of Beaufort, NC died Saturday November 14, 2015 at his home.

Born in Takoma Park, Maryland, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Twilley Malone. Bob was a graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where he earned his MA in English and Dramatic Arts. He served in the United States Army Intelligence Corps assigned to the White House.  After a 35 year career of professional work in the DC area in publishing, public speaking and association management he and his wife Sandi retired to Beaufort which he always referred to as “Paradise”. In his retirement, Carteret County provided Bob with the opportunity to commit his time and energy to promoting the Arts Community and the Ideals of Rotary. He was adjunct faculty at Carteret Community College where he taught English, Public Speaking, Theatre Appreciation, and started the first Drama Program where he produced over 30 shows featuring members of his acting class. He was on the Board of Directors and Treasurer of the Carteret Community Theatre (CCT) where he also directed seven CCT productions including Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite, August: Osage County, God of Carnage, Steel Magnolias, The Miracle Worker and most recently, “Oliver”.  Bob was also past president of the Arts Council of Carteret County.  He was very active in the Ole Towne Beaufort Rotary Club where he received the Paul Harris Fellows award, served as President and dedicated time to the community so that it continues to grow. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and served on their Board of Directors. Narrating the double decker bus for the Beaufort Historical Association, the Beaufort Pirate Invasion, Carteret Community College Graduation and the Beaufort Ole Towne Rotary Club Road Race gave him the tag line as the “Voice of Carteret County”.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sandra J. Malone, his brother, John B. Malone of Yorktown, VA, 2 sons and one daughter, Regan Malone, Shannon Malone, and Sharleen Meadows of Maryland and five grandchildren.
