Robert "Bob" Hargett

Robert “Bob” Hargett, 79, of Harkers Island, passed away Tuesday, March 19­, 2019, at Carteret Health Care.

There will be a gathering of family of friends from 1 p.m. till 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at the Mr. Hargett’s home at 489 Island Road, Harkers Island, NC. Interment will take place at a later date at Richmond Memorial Cemetery in Rockingham, NC.

Bob retired as a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy where he proudly served our country. His second career involved working with heavy equipment at Clark Equipment and F.M.E. in his retirement. He was a master carpenter who enjoyed working with his hands. He’ll be remembered for his great sense of humor and his drive to be an irresistible force in all things that he did.

He is survived by his wife, Raisa Hargett; daughter, Christine Willis and husband Davey of Harkers Island; sons, David Hargett and wife Dorothy of Harkers Island, and Eric Hargett and wife Debi of Havelock; sister, Effie Anderson and husband Buck of Hamlet; 7 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 40 years, Donna Ruth Hargett; parents, George and Ruth Hargett; and sister, Kay Hargett.
