Robert “Bob” Wayne Davis Jr., 79, of Havelock, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Carteret Health Care.
A funeral service to honor Bob’s life will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, October 14th at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Bob was born on August 10, 1944, to the late Robert Wayne Davis Sr. and Mary Bellamy Davis, the oldest of six children. Born in Boise, Idaho, their family later moved to Oregon where he grew up in beautiful Portland. After serving his country with honor as a dedicated Marine veteran, Bob made his home in Havelock, NC in 2005.
For the past 4 years, he worked as a cab driver, bringing smiles and comfort to the community he served. Many knew him as Santa Bob, as he genuinely embodied the spirit of kindness, especially during the holiday season.
Bob was an avid reader, always getting lost in books and captured by intriguing stories. Watching Westerns was another great interest of Bob, John Wayne movies and the Old West were always at the top of list of shows to watch. Bob also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who knew him as “Poppy”.
With black and gold running through his veins, Bob was a Pittsburgh Steeler fan through and through. He was even known to throw the Terrible Towel once or twice while rooting for his favorite team.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving children, Michele “Shelly” Faw and husband Gary, Dawn Marie Davis, and Robert Wayne Davis III; stepdaughter, LiAnne McNeil; siblings, Darlene Marie Richardson, James Lee Davis, and Molly Ann Anderson; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; special friend, Amanda Lafleur and her son Kevyn Ruede; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna Davis who passed away in 2010; his siblings, Gloria Jean Brown and John Lynn Davis; and his stepson, Michael Christopher McNeil.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome.
