Robert G. "Bob" Turton, 78, of Pine Knoll Shores, went home to be with his Lord on June 13, 2012. Born in Newark, NJ on Febuary 2, 1934 he moved here with his wife Miriam "Mimi" in 1996.
A graduate of Colgate University in Hamilton, NY, he served in the US Air Force as a pilot in the Strategic Air Command during the Cold War. He lived in Spring Lake Heights, NJ for 33 years where he was self-employed as a private investigator and was president and chairman of the Private Detectives Association of New Jersey ( subsequently the New Jersey Licensed Private Investigators Association).
In retirement he served as a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem, District 3B, where he was named Outstanding Advocate of the year 2001.
In addition to his best friend and dear wife Mimi, he leaves his son Tom and wife Lore of Fayetteville, GA; a daughter Kathy Furtner, of Pine Knoll Shores; daughter Nancy Parler of Durham. He also leaves nine grandchildren, Jeff, Josh, and Jeremy Turton; Joey Furtner and wife Kristen; Missy Klor and husband Wes; and Kevin Furtner and wife Madeline; and Michael, Matthew and Katie Parler, and five great grandchildren: Karlee, Ben, and Samuel Furtner, and John Lincoln and Sarah Elisabeth Klor; completing four generations of his family in the town of Pine Knoll Shores. In addition he is survived by a sister Pat Biondi of Mountainside, NJ and three nieces and one nephew. He was predeceased by son-in-law Len Furtner.
Visitation will be Monday June 18, 2012 at 10:00 am. Rev. Robert Kornegay will lead a worship service at 11:00 am in the Munden Funeral Home Chapel in Morehead City.
