Robert "Bobby" Edward Tripp III

Robert “Bobby” Edward Tripp III, 81, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. 

Bobby was born on June 16, 1943, in Raleigh, to the late Robert and Louise Tripp. Bobby honorably served in the U.S. Army for three years, an experience that shaped his character and discipline. He pursued higher education and earned his bachelor’s degree from NC State in 1970 and went on to have a successful career as an electrical engineer. His analytical and logical method of thinking meant he could tackle any project and fix practically anything with ease.

In his free time, Bobby kept active with puzzles. When one was finished, he immediately started another, completing an impressive average of 50 each year. He also had a love for the outdoors, being on the water, boating, fishing and enjoying the beauty of the Crystal Coast. 

Bobby loved the Lord and was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Morehead City. He will be fondly remembered as a loving and supportive husband, amazing father and proud grandfather.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Mary Emma Tripp; son, Robert E. Tripp IV and wife Elizabeth of Charlotte, NC; sister, Peggy Tripp of Wilmington, NC; and grandchildren, Weatherley, Alton, and Gwen. 

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
