Robert A. Nolin, 85, of Beaufort, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Carolina East Medical Center.
There will be a Celebration of Life starting at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, with a time of fellowship until 5:00 p.m.
Robert was born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island. He honorably served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and met his wife as a pen pal while stationed overseas. He was a graduate of Seton Hall with a Master’s in Media Education. He worked in the West Milford Township School District in New Jersey and retired after 30 years. He started as a Woodshop Teacher and retired as the District Head of Media Education. He moved to Carteret County in 1992, was an original member of the Watercraft Center in Beaufort and an active member of the Carteret County Habitat for Humanity. Robert was the former head usher for the Annunciation Catholic Church in Havelock. He was also a member of the Sports Center and attributed his longevity to his active lifestyle. He was very skilled with his hands and used his talents to help others, earning the nickname, “Golden Hands”.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marilyn H. Nolin; sons, Robert “Bob” Edward Nolin and wife, Christine, of Pittsburgh, PA and Steve M. Nolin and wife, Dianne, of Oak Hill, VA; sister, Florence Nolin of Montreal, Canada; brother, Paul Nolin and wife, Patricia, of Morehead City; brother-in-law, James Short of Cleveland, OH; and grandchildren, Elizabeth Nolin, Patrick Nolin, Grace Nolin and Hayes Nolin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Yvonne Nolin; sisters, Lucille Faucher, Theresa Short, Gabrielle Sharp; and brothers, Ernest Nolin and Gilbert Nolin.
