Robert “Robbie” Keeter Sr., 69, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 11, 2024, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
A memorial service to honor Robbie’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, November 18th at Glad Tidings Church, officiated by Pastor Tim Marriner. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the funeral home website for 90 days.
Robbie was born on January 21, 1955, in Fayetteville, NC, to the late James Cleveland “J.C.” Keeter and Rebecca Ann Gibson Keeter. He attended Glad Tidings Church. Over the years, Robbie worked in his family’s restaurants, Plaza Cafeteria, and the Beaufort House, as well as Munden Funeral Home. He made a career in construction and woodworking, where he was able to showcase his artistic talent. After retiring, he worked faithfully at Second Blessings thrift store.
A gentle soul at heart, Robbie had a special affection for animals, especially his most recent furry companion, Fancy. He loved NASCAR and took pleasure in enjoying a good El’s Drive-In super cheeseburger. Robbie found comfort in listening to music, particularly Elvis and the Gaither Vocal Band. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening, taking great pride in growing delicious tomatoes.
Robbie delighted in making others laugh and had a unique ability and quick-witted sense of humor that made family gatherings fun and memorable. Above all else, he loved his family and genuinely valued each of those relationships. Robbie’s love for his family was fierce, and unconditional, and it knew no bounds.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughter, Cristina Keeter (Becky) of Morehead City; sisters, Regina Hall, Kathy Lowery, and Kim Faircloth, all of Morehead City; brothers, Jim Keeter and Charles Keeter (Phyllis), all of Havelock; grandson, Dylan James Livingston-Keeter; and brothers-in-law, Bob Lowery of Cape Carteret and Bobby Blessing of Wake Forest.
Robbie is loved and remembered by many nieces and nephews including Shelton Hall (Mary) of Mill Creek, Ann Cannon (Adam) of Morehead City, Kelly Keeter of Greenville, Lindsay Sackett (Nathan) of Beaufort, Josh Keeter (Kristin) of Morehead City, Matthew Trapp (Megan) of Vass, NC, Miles Trapp (Ashley) of Morehead City, Faith Lowery of Morehead City, Aubrey Keeter of Havelock, Candace Keeter and Amber Reels of Beaufort, and Katherine, Molly and, Nancy Adams of New Bern. He is also loved and remembered by great nieces and nephews, Jarrett Hall, Noah and Jonah Cannon, Lilah and Finn Sackett, Ayden and Grayson Keeter, Colin and Camerain Allen, Ashlyn Trapp, Trey Barbour, Mason and Maddox Trapp, Payton Keeter, Saniah, JJ, and Jade Reels, and Brianna Keeter.
He is also survived by his special cousin, Charles Gibson Jr. and his wife Rose of Hope Mills, NC, along with their children and their grandchildren, Christopher Gibson (Krista) and children Matthew and Jordan, Nicholas Gibson (Monica) and children Payton and Bristol, Heather Zaragoza (Ricardo) and daughter Bella. He had a large extended family and many special friends who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his parents, Robbie was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 48 years, Verna Marie Patterson Keeter; son, Robert Bruce Keeter, Jr.; brother, Joe Keeter; sister, Jennifer Keeter Blessing; mother-in-law, Wyona Patterson; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Hall, Doug Faircloth, and Charles Adams; and furry companion, Fancy.
