Robert "Bob" Charles Greene

Robert " Bob" Charles Greene, 77, of Newport passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Vidant  Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jack Mumford officiating.

Bob was a loving father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather. He retired from the U.S.Coast Guard after thirty years of service with the Rank of Senior Chief Yeoman. He also retired a second time as general manager from Carteret Lanes after twenty plus years. Bob loved to bowl and did so until May of this year. He was a member of the Carteret Craven Bowling Association Hall of fame as well as serving as the Association Manager for thirty years. Bob touched the lives and was respected by everyone he met.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth" Liz" Britt Greene of the home; four daughters, Angela Lynn Ruble and husband Matt of Newport, Cheryl  Desiderio and husband Desi of Elizabeth City, Michelle Tarr and husband Darren of St. Leonard, MD, Casey Sigman and husband Brent of Newport; two step-daughters,Tonya Utley of Morehead City and Sara Martin and husband Eric of Newport; one step-son, Cory Hicks of Newport; and 18 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; also one sister, Gretchen Dodd of Savannah GA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ned and Elene Greene; brother Gene; and sister, Betty Ann.
