Robert Lee Golden

August 8, 1917 — March 2, 2012

Atlantic and Sealevel has lost it's oldest fisherman and male citizen. Robert Lee Golden, 94, born in Hunting Quarters went home to be with his Lord on Friday morning, March 2, 2012, at Carteret General Hospital. He was born August 8, 1917 to the late George Allen Golden and Caddie Taylor Golden. He married Christine Robinson and built their home in Atlantic where he has lived and worked his whole life as a commercial fisherman. He served as a deacon in his church for many years. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Christine Robinson Golden, his wife Anita Willis Morris, his daughter-in-law, Kristin Sigurdardottir Golden, his sister: Caroline Willis Taylor, Madeline Salter, Mariam Taylor, his brother Hildred Oree Golden, and his step-son Tony Morris.

Robert is survived by his son, Retired USAF Lt Col George Donnley Golden of Hampton, VA, a daughter Judy Lee Golden Gillikin and husband Jerry K. Gillikin of Bettie: grandchildren Gina L. Golden, and Tina L. Golden Cayton of Morehead City, Tanya Dawn Gillikin and husband Frank L. Harrison of Apex, NC, Robert Donnley Golden and wife RoseAnn Davis Golden of Richmond, VA, Theresa Kristin Golden Morgan and husband Ian Bradley Morgan of Auburn, AL: four great grandchildren Cameron Kristine Golden, Davis Donnley Golden, Jackson Robert Morgan, and Goldie Kristin Morgan: step-sons Mitchell Morris and wife Velma, Ray Tallent and wife Sherri, Wally Morris and wife Donna, and Paul Morris.

The family greatly appreciates all the love and affection shown by his friends, relatives, and care givers. Special thanks go to the staff of Taylor Extended Facility for their care and support for the past five years.

Visitation will be held at the Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church on Monday, March 5 at 1:00 pm. Service will follow at 2:00 pm by the Rev. Terry McInnis and Rev. Eddie Brookshire. Internment to follow at Atlantic Community Cemetery.
