Robert “Bob” Geer, 70, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
A funeral service to honor Bob’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, February 5th at Munden Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 4th at Munden Funeral Home. Bob will be laid to rest privately at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Bob was born on February 20, 1954, in Waukegan, Illinois, to Loyd R. Geer and Lucille Geer. Bob and his two brothers, Gary and Ron, were raised in Waukegan Illinois. Bob attended Antioch High School in Illinois.
Bob’s first job was in construction and later got a job in packaging at Baxter in Illinois. He worked there several years and subsequently moved to North Carolina in 1974 to take a job in packaging at Glaxo Pharmaceuticals located in Zebulon North Carolina where he worked for 34 years. His last position was Director of Manufacturing for the Multi-Dose Packaging facility that manufactured Advair. There he supervised over 200 employees. While there he won several leadership awards and obtained his lean six sigma certification.
Bob got his associate in arts degree from Louisburg College and later obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Barton College in Wilson NC.
Bob retired in 2008, he and his wife Carol moved to Beaufort in 2010. While retired, Bob volunteered at our local Salvation Army in Morehead City and served on his local community HOA board.
Bob’s passion was music and running. He played guitar and loved playing with his friends. He was also in a band named Dillinger after he graduated from high school. They played around the Chicago and Wisconsin areas and most notably opened for the band Styx in Chicago in the 70’s. He also ran several 5K road races in Raleigh NC.
Bob is survived by his wife, Carol Geer; son, Mitch Geer; and two brothers, Gary and Ron Geer.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Lucille Geer.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Huntington’s Society of America.
