Robert Blake Benton, 68, of Georgia, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at Carolina East Medical Center.

Services for Robert will be private.

Robert was born on September 3, 1951, in Taylorsville, North Carolina, to the late John Benton and Blanche Campbell. He later moved to Georgia and worked faithfully at Fieldale Farms  where he retired from.

Robert had amazing artistic ability and used his talent to represent nature on canvas. He could often be found with brush in hand and loved the flow of rich colors. His paintings won him first place in several art contests, and he published numerous paintings. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years whether he was painting, fishing, or spending time with his family. Robert was a wonderful man that was easy to love.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Kathy Keller Benton of the home; daughters, Tracey Sheppard and husband Travis of Macon, GA and Bethany Price and husband Hunter of Gordon, GA; sons, Dan Benton and wife Nancy of Cleveland, TN and Matthew Benton and wife Jhenna of Hartwell, GA; sister, Kay Benton of Taylorsville, NC; brother, Warren Benton of Statesville, NC; grandchildren, Patrick Benton, Celeste Duke, Noah Price, Chase Stockwell and Blaire Benton; and great-grandchildren, Ana Benton, Jace Duke and Brett Duke.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Douglas Benton, Adrian Benton and George, Benton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Carteret County Humane Society at 853 Hibbs Rd, Newport, NC 28570.

The family would like to thank the captain and crew of the Carolina Princess as well as the Coast Guard EMS, and Carteret Health Care for their Care for Robert.
