Richard "Dick" Dexter Eubanks Sr., 97, of Beaufort, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at his home.

A private graveside service, with military honors, will be held at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Richard, or Dick as he was known by all, was born on December 19, 1924, in Morehead City, North Carolina, to the late John and Lula Eubanks, one of seventeen children. Coming from a large household, Dick appreciated family and the relationships he had with each of them.

Proud of his veteran service, Dick honorably served in the United States Navy and the United States Coast Guard, earning the Victory World War II medal. Upon returning home to Carteret County, Dick worked faithfully in Civil Service until his retirement and was a faithful member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Morehead City. He will be remembered by his family as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and loving husband.

He is survived by his son, Richard “Rick” Eubanks Jr. and wife Cecilia of Beaufort; step-son, John Brooks and wife Mary Lupton Brooks of Beaufort; sisters, June Lewis of Morehead City and Carol Bilby of Raleigh; brother, Larry G. Eubanks and wife Frances of Newport; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 34 years, Lulah Eubanks who passed away in 1982; his second wife of 10 years, Violet Eubanks who passed away in 1992; step-daughters, Betty Norrick and Joyce Oneal; step-son, Rick Lee Brooks; along with 13 sisters and brothers.
