Richard Wayne Willis

August 23, 1963 — January 21, 2013

Richard Wayne Willis, 49, of Broad Creek, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, January 21, 2013, at home, while surrounded by his family after a hard battle with cancer.

His service will be held 2:00 Friday at the Broad Creek Church of God, with Rev. James Chadwick, Rev. Wesley Holmes, and Rev. Charles Hardison officiating. Interment will follow at the Broad Creek Community Cemetery.

Richard was born August 23, 1963, in Morehead City, NC. He worked as a concrete mason and commercial fisherman most of his life. He loved to hunt and go fresh water fishing in the local ponds and woods, surrounding Broad Creek and western part of Carteret County. He loved and enjoyed giving a helping hand to the elderly and others when in a time of need. He loved going to church and listening to good ol' gospel singing which could be heard daily coming from his radio and stereo.

He is survived by his parents of the home James (Buddy) and Vencia Willis: one son Cameron Wayne Willis of Jacksonville, NC : one brother Wilson A. Willis and wife Lam of Broad Creek: four sisters Linda Golden and husband Homer, Debra Wagoner and husband Oscar, Loretta Taylor and husband Timothy, Amanda Willis and companion Dawn all of Broad Creek:  many nieces and nephews: two uncles Bob C. Willis of Broad Creek, and Lloyd Hunter of Pascagula, MS: three aunts Sadie Lewis of Otway, Portia Robinson and husband Alton of Morehead City, and Susan Willis of Broad Creek.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 Thursday at the Church.

Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital 332 N. Lauderdale St. Memphis, TN 38105.
