Richard Jess Kerr, Jr., 68, passed unexpectedly on Friday. November 3, 2017 at his home in Newport, N.C.
A memorial service will be held for the family privately.
His family moved to Atlantic Beach in 1966 when his father purchased the Red and White Supermarket. His love of the beach has never ended. He served in the US Coast Guard and was an amazing poet and won awards for his poetry. Richard was kind and generous and told great stories, ascribing to Will Roger's theory, that any story worth telling, was worth embellishing!
He will be missed by all whose lives he touched.
Surviving are his son, Richard A. Kerr and family of Erwin NC; daughter, Jessica M. Kerr and family of Austin, TX; sisters, Victoria Kerr of Brevard, NC and Kathy Kerr Regalmuto of Morehead City; brother, William L. Kerr of Raleigh, NC and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by everyone, especially his nephew Mikey Ross of San Francisco, CA and niece, Rainbow Sipe of Brevard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard J Kerr, Sr. and stepmother Dorothy Kerr and wife Cathy Kendrick-Kerr.
