Richard Joseph Buseck, “The Silver Fox,” 66, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023, at his home.
His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, February 19th at Munden Funeral Home. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
Richard was born on July 22, 1956, to Richard and Helen Buseck. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he grew up in Long Island where he graduated from General Douglas MacArthur High School. He went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Navy for 5 ½ years. Richard had a long career as a clerk with the United States Post Office which he did until his retirement. He enjoyed living in Carteret County on and off since 1997. He spent the rest of his time traveling and caring for his parents in NY.
Richard, “The Goat” was a sports fanatic, a Fantasy Football champion and The Commish. He was a great father, coach, and comedian. Going to his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events was one of the highlights of his life. Being with family and cheering on the kids were certainly happy times for all of them.
He is survived by his mother, Helen Buseck of New York; children, Benjamin Brand and wife Misty Brand of New Hampshire, Dawn Brand of Havelock, Sheena Brand of New Bern, Lindsay Brand of Morehead City, Stephanie Bowers and husband Mike Bowers of Stafford, VA, and Kayla Burdette and husband Ryan Burdette of Morehead City; sisters, Debbie Buseck Wade of New Jersey and Elizabeth Johnson (Buseck) and husband Hugh Johnson of New York; grandchildren, Derrek, Michaela, Kolby, Ryleigh, Alaina, Benny, Aubrey, Caiden, Jalen, Mykah, Kylie, Isaiah, Javon, Kaison, Karsyn, Karter, Ian, and Isla; and 3 great-grandchildren. (Yes, all the grandchildren got their good looks and smarts from him.)
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Richard H. Buseck, and sister, Donna Mueller.
