Richard Lee Golden

Richard Lee Golden, 70 of Newport, NC passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM Thursday at First Baptist Church of Morehead City with Dr. Nate Leonard and Rev. Jessie Croom officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Richard was a member of the First Baptist Church of Morehead City and the Lighthouse Sunday School Class.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years Beadie Ballou Golden of the home; daughter Pam Golden Pittman and husband Donald of Newport; two sons, Adam Sanderson and fiancée Barbara Gravatt, Bubba Sanderson and Heather Avery all of Newport; mother, Mildred Golden of Stacy; brother, Dallas Golden and wife Lula of Stacy; four grandchildren, Jordan Sanderson, Spencer Sanderson and wife Morgan, Sam Sanderson and Amber Pittman in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Lemuel Golden; infant grandson George Darious Sanderson; father in-law and mother-in-law Darious and Katie Ballou.

Richard was originally born and raised in Stacy before moving to Morehead City where he met his wife Beadie whom he loved dearly; they shared many wonderful years filled with beautiful memories.

Richard proudly serviced his country for 4 years in the National Guard Armory.

His career of choice was being a salesman.  Richard never met a stranger; he was one who always had a story to tell. He owned and operated Golden's Cleaning Service for over 35 years.

One of Richards’s favorite hobbies was to buy, restore and sell old cars and trucks. His favorite color was Yellow. He was an avid pilot and owned multiple planes over the course of his flying career. He always loved saying, "He felt closer to God while he was flying his plane"

Richard was a very loving, caring and hard working family man and was a friend to everyone he met and will be greatly missed by many.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Robin Lingle, RN with Carteret Home Health Care and Hospice, a very special family friend Bill Grove, the second and third floor nurses and respiratory therapist of Carteret General Hospital, the doctors and staff of the RABB Clinic and John Moore with Friendly Care Givers.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00PM Wednesday at Munden Funeral Home.
