Richard Alfred Emer, 87, of Beaufort, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013 at Carteret General Hospital.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Weston Earl Taylor, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Carteret Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites.
Richard was a member of Mason Lodge in Beaufort for 60 years, and Franklin Lodge 109. He served in the USMC, and retired from NARF with the Method and Standards division. He volunteered for East Carteret for over 20 years as a photographer, and three years with the Sheriff's department.
He is survived by his wife Ann Hamm Emer of the home; two step daughters Karen Hemby of New Bern, NC and Diane Poe of Georgia; two stepsons Rev. Weston Earl Taylor, Jr. of Newport News, VA and Michael D. Hamm of Lexington, NC ; nieces Gaynelle F. Smith of Beaufort, NC, Susan F. Gillikin of Greenville, NC, Ila F. Wright of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Karen Emer of New Jersey; and a great niece Stacey Rose of Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ferdinard and Mary Emer, and siblings Elsie Emer, Eleanor Platner, Milton Emer, Frederick Emer, and George Emer.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm Friday at Munden Funeral Home.
